Wellbeing at Carysfort N.S.
At Carysfort National School, the wellbeing of our pupils is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment where every child feels valued, respected, and encouraged to thrive.
Part of our whole-school approach to wellbeing and pro-social behaviour is the promotion of character strengths and a growth mind-set. Through the Weaving Wellbeing programme students learn about and develop personal and group values such as Perseverance, Honesty, Humour, Self-Control, Curiosity, Love of Learning, Creativity, Zest and above all Kindness. Successes are celebrated through our use of the “Kindness Tree” and “Praise Book” and honourable mentions at Assembly.
Over the course of the school year the “branches” of the Kindness Tree fill out with apples for individual acts of kindness or class achievements of goals. This year we are “going for gold” and hoping to top last year’s record of 625 individual and 55 class apples!

Our Wellbeing Programme is integrated across the school day and curriculum. Through the Weaving Well-Being programme, pupils learn practical strategies to build resilience, develop a positive mindset, and foster empathy and gratitude. This helps children to recognise their strengths and equips them with tools to manage challenges in healthy and constructive ways.
We are also proud participants in the FUSE Anti-Bullying and Online Safety Programme, which empowers children to recognise, respond to, and report bullying behaviours, while building confidence to stay safe online.
In addition, pupils engage with A Lust for Life Schools Programme, which promotes emotional literacy, self-awareness, and kindness, encouraging children to talk openly about feelings and support each other.
Together, these initiatives help to embed a strong culture of care and connection in our school community. At Carysfort, wellbeing is not just a subject but a way of life – ensuring our pupils grow into confident, compassionate, and resilient individuals.
