The Arts at Carysfort NS

At Carysfort National School, the Arts are an essential part of our curriculum, allowing every child to explore creativity, express themselves and develop confidence. Aligned with the Irish Primary Curriculum, our Arts programme encompasses Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Dance, providing rich opportunities for hands-on learning and imaginative expression.

Through Visual Arts, pupils engage with a variety of media and techniques, learning to create, appreciate and respond to art in their environment. We provide after school art classes and art camps with our resident artist, so all children can experience a wide variety of artistic modalities.

We have an excellent school choir and music teachers who ensure that we have beautiful music at all of our performances. In 3rd class the mobile music workshop comes to visit- which is great fun!

After School: see our After-school activities page for more details.

  • Visual Art classes with Michael Cleary run multiple times a week. He also does camps during school breaks and workshops with the whole school during themed weeks.
  • Drama classes with Ciara Phelan run multiple times a week.
  • Dance class with Mr. Hamell on Thursdays.
  • Some of our teachers teach piano- enquire at the school for more details.

Our resident dance and drama teachers provide after school  activities and camps to ensure  children experience rhythm, melody, and performance, fostering both enjoyment and musical literacy.

Our approach ensures that the Arts are not only a subject to be learned but a way for children to explore ideas, emotions, and cultural heritage. By nurturing creativity and artistic appreciation, we aim to inspire lifelong engagement with the Arts.
