Halloween Book Tasting at Carysfort N.S.

A Celebration of Reading, Imagination and Literacy

At Carysfort National School, we believe that literacy is at the heart of every child’s learning journey. Reading opens doors to creativity, curiosity and critical thinking – helping our pupils to develop not only their language skills but also their empathy, imagination and sense of wonder about the world around them.

To celebrate this commitment to literacy, we have organised Halloween Book Tasting Table – a fun, engaging event designed to spark excitement about books and encourage every child to discover new genres, authors and adventures.

The idea was simple but powerful: just like at a food tasting, pupils were invited to sample different books – from spooky mysteries and magical adventures to laugh-out-loud stories and heart-warming tales.

This event is part of Carysfort’s ongoing focus on developing a strong culture of reading. Through initiatives such as AR, class libraries, paired reading, author visits, reading challenges and library-led events, we aim to nurture a lifelong love of books and empower our pupils to become confident, joyful readers and writers.
