We also celebrated great athletic success at the annual Cumann na mBunscol Athletics Competition in Morton Stadium, Santry.
Congratulations to our students on their fantastic achievements, including success in the Under 12 Girls Relay and Long Jump, as well as the Under 14 Girls 600m race.

It’s that time of year again- the chicks have arrived at Carysfort!
Ms. Scanlon, Ms. Sheil and Ms Connolly have been busy nurturing some eggs, which have finally begun to hatch. They are excited to share the experience with everyone, and have kindly put together a very informative Padlet to allow us all to follow along in their journey.
All classes will have the opportunity to see the chicks at some point before they go back to the farm at Easter. In the meantime, they are regularly updating the Padlet with new photos and videos of their progress.ik9t3d

We celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge in Carysfort from 9th-13th March 2026. The children enjoyed a range of activities including:
- Irish dancing: Ms. Joanne McDonnell taught the Junior Classes, while the Senior Classes had the opportunity to take part in a Céilí.
- Tráth na gCeist: Many classes took part throughout the week.
- Our amazing Banna Ceoil performed some lovely traditional Irish music and taught us about their instruments. Thank you to Ms. Mulcahy, Ms. Connolly and Ms. Sheil for their work on this.
- Comórtas Gaeilge: All children were encouraged to use as much Gaeilge as possible throughout the week. Each class was given an apple to colour in, with sections completed as Gaeilge was used throughout the day. A full apple gave the class a raffle ticket and a chance to win a prize.
- Many classes were learning songs as Gaeilge and listening to stories trí Ghaeilge throughout the week.
- Door Decorating: All classes decorated their doors for our door decorating competition.
- Friday 13th March was our annual ‘Lá Glas’. The children were encouraged to wear green, white and orange clothing.
It was a fabulous week for all members of the school community. We will continue to encourage children to use their ‘cúpla focal’ as much as possible. Thank you to Ms. Cooper for all her work in organising the event.

The children won the Outstanding Achievement Award for editing. Huge thank you to Ms Egan for preparing the children so well!

We are delighted to announce that 23 of our Carysfort students have qualified for the final of the Bebras Challenge this year.
The Bebras Computing Challenge introduces computational thinking to students, by allowing them to solve interactive tasks online. It is run in over 60 countries and takes place every November. It is a huge achievement to qualify for the final.
The event will take place in Maynooth University in April. We are very proud of our students and wish them the best of luck in the final!
During Sea Life Week the children collected treasures from the seashore which were then used to decorate our school fish, Alan, who was named after our fantastic caretaker who made the fish template for us. Alan the Fish is proudly displayed near our school hall, along with all the other wonderful artwork created during Sea Life Week.
Kieran is working with 3rd-6th Classes on the Gymnastics strand in PE this month.
They are learning how to do tumbling, flipping, handstands and headstands safely.
They are making great progress and having fun too!
From 19th to 23rd January, Carysfort N.S. celebrated Sea Study Week, during which children across the school enjoyed a rich range of sea-themed learning experiences, including:

These experiences were carefully planned to support playful learning, creative thinking and enquiry, in line with the aims of the Primary Curriculum.
Throughout the week, children explored marine life, ocean habitats and environmental awareness through hands-on, interactive learning. The marine biology workshops encouraged scientific curiosity and questioning, while Sea School and Explorer workshops promoted investigation, problem-solving and collaboration.
The art workshops with Michael Cleary provided children with opportunities to respond creatively to the sea through a variety of media, developing imagination and visual expression. Drama workshops with Ciara Phelan enabled pupils to explore sea-themed ideas through movement, role-play and storytelling, while yoga workshops with Claire Hayden supported children’s wellbeing, focus and self-regulation through calm, sea-inspired movement.
Learning was integrated across SESE, Literacy, Numeracy, the Arts and Wellbeing, and classrooms reflected this rich learning through displays of artwork, models, writing and project work.
Sea Study Week was a wonderful example of how playful, child-centred learning can support deep engagement and enjoyment for all learners. We extend a sincere thank you to our Parents’ Association, whose fundraising made these valuable workshops and experiences possible.

The Green Schools Committee are busy working towards their next Green Flag for the school – their seventh in total! This year’s theme is Global Citizenship – Energy. The committee have some great ideas about how we can make the school more energy efficient and use more sustainable energy, which in turn will have a great effect on the wider world around us. We are also taking part in a national competition to recycle as many batteries as we can. All the classes are making a huge effort to collect old batteries so they can be recycled safely and their contents re-used sustainably. Go Green Team!
