In Carysfort National School standardised testing starts in 1st class. All classes are assessed in English Reading and Maths with spellings also assessed in 1st, 3rd & 5th classes. Standardised tests are used to measure your child’s achievement compared to other children throughout the country at the same age or class level.
Standardised tests are not intelligence tests. The main purpose of testing is to help the teacher identify your child’s strengths and needs and to plan your child’s learning. More information on the test and interpreting the STen score is available here.
