Death of Fionnghuala de Barra

Dear parents,

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the unexpected death on Easter Sunday morning of Fionnghuala de Barra, Chairperson of our school Board of Management. We extend our sincerest sympathy to her children Órla, Emer, Ciarán, Conal and Feargus and to the extended Barry family at this difficult time as it is less than two months since the death of their dad and Fionnghuala’s beloved husband Raymond.

Fionnghuala began her teaching career in the 1970’s on the grounds of Carysfort N.S. when Colaiste Íosagáin was located in our Senior Infant classroom building prior to their move to the Stillorgan Road. She was principal of Coláiste Íosagáin from 1989-1993.

Fionnghuala always had a great interest in the growth and development of Carysfort N.S. and has been Chairperson of the Board of Management for over 20 years. She was with us to the end, chairing her final Board of Management meeting remotely on Tuesday, March 23rd and signed school documents for me on Monday last.

As a school community we are privileged to have known Fionnghuala and have benefitted immensely from her educational experience and vision. We will greatly miss her kindness, wisdom, support and loyalty.

Ba mhaith linn comhbhrón ó chroí a dhéanamh lena clann ar bhás Fhionnghuala. Suaimhneas síoraí dá hanam uasal.

Ní bheidh a leitheid ann arís.

Le dea-mhéin,

Norma Linehan
Principal
